The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur, in collaboration with the Museum of Asian Art, Universiti Malaya, features an exhibition by Japanese printmaking master Yoshisuke Funasaka as part of its mission to foster the cultural exchange between Japan and Malaysia through arts and culture.
Curated by Mr. Juhari Said, Malaysia’s renowned print artist, to celebrate their friendship over 30 years, the exhibition will feature approximately more than 100 works by the influential artist Yoshisuke Funasaka, showcasing the beauty and intricacies of the art of printmaking.

About the Artist
FUNASAKA Yoshisuke, born in 1939 in the Gifu Prefecture, Japan, is a celebrated figure in Japanese printmaking. In 1962, Mr. Funasaka graduated from the prestigious Tama University of Art. He primarily works with traditional Japanese woodblock printmaking techniques but also creates silkscreen prints, sometimes in combination. Funasaka has been awarded numerous prizes at international print fairs and his works can be found in many major museums including the Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art, British Museum and the Smithsonian Institution.
