The Japan Foundation has put on a cartoon exhibition every year since 1990; the year the ASEAN Cultural Center was established. It sponsored the “ASEAN Cartoonists Exhibition” to enhance the public’s knowledge of other Asian societies and cultures. Re-organized as the Asia Center in 1995, the center has expanded the range of nations and has organized exhibitions based on various themes on Asia. Talented cartoonists from various Asian countries illuminate the exhibitions. It has also won acclamation in Tokyo and several other cities in Japan.
The theme for this year is “Images of My Asian Neighbors”. The works of 10 cartoonists from China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, The Philippines, Singapore and Thailand are personally flavored with stews of life and times for your enjoyment.
