DESCRIPTION:\n\nAs part of its mission to foster collaboration of arts and culture between Japan and Malaysia\, The Japan Foundation\, Kuala Lumpur (JFKL)\, in collaboration with the Museum of Asian Art\, Universiti Malaya will be organising a 3-day Traditional Japanese Baren Making Workshop\, hosted by Japanese printmaking master Yoshisuke FUNASAKA. The workshop will be held in conjunction with the Asian Master Series: 03 Yoshisuke Funasaka: Intipati\, Mr. Funasaka’s solo exhibition from the 11th of June to 31st July 2025\, featuring works of the distinguished artist at the museum.\n\n\nTraditional Japanese Baren Making Workshop\n\nWorkshop Period: 12-14 June 2025\nWorkshop Venue: Museum of Asian Art\, Universiti Malaya\nHosted by: Japanese Printmaking Master\, Yoshisuke FUNASAKA\n\n\n\n\n \n\nTraditional Japanese Baren Making Workshop Application\n\nWorkshop Application Period: 22 May - 1 June 2025\n\nFee: RM 100 (One Hundred Ringgit Malaysia)\n\nOpen to:\n\n \tArtists or lecturers in print making practice residing in Malaysia.\n \tAged 18 and above.\n \tAble to commit and attend the full 3-day workshop.\n\nDocuments:\n\n1. Application Form (Word)*\n\n*(Click the 'File' tab to Download the Document)\n\nSubmit to: The Japan Foundation\, Kuala Lumpur (JFKL) via e-mail (thejapanfoundationkl@gmail.com) by 1st June 2025\n\n \n\n\nAbout the Artist\n\n\nFUNASAKA Yoshisuke\, born in 1939 in the Gifu Prefecture\, Japan\, is a celebrated figure in Japanese printmaking. In 1962\, Mr. Funasaka graduated from the prestigious Tama University of Art. He primarily works with traditional Japanese woodblock printmaking techniques but also creates silkscreen prints\, and sometimes in combination. Funasaka has been awarded numerous prizes at international print fairs and his works can be found in many major museums including the Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art\, British Museum and the Smithsonian Institution.\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPage last updated: 22 May 2025
