This solo exhibition represents the 2nd part of his career\, the continuing 7 years from 2003 to 2009.\nThe three body of works featured in this exhibition\, Quilt of the Dead\, Flora & Fauna IV\, Narratives\, reflects the artist’s preoccupation with the process of art-making and his concerns about the role and meaning of art. Started in 2003\, Quilt of the Dead was a public participatory work-in-progress that uses the theme of death as a means for the living to communicate with each other. In contrast\, the Flora & Fauna series in 2004 are pieces of works with intensely private expressions of his memories\, imagination and love for nature. While Narratives\, 2006\, explores his concerns about culture and history.\nThe 2 Seven Years is the accumulation of the artist’s perspective and experience from his artist residencies in Korea\, Taiwan and Japan\, whilst displaying his belief in art and what it can achieve. With the exception of a few pieces\, all the works on display has never been exhibited in Malaysia.\nThere will be an artist talk scheduled on Saturday\, 28 November 2009. The artist talk is open to everyone\, there is no admission fee.\nBelow are the scheduled time and sessions:\nSaturday\, 28 November 2009 at The Annexe Gallery\n1st Session (Mandarin) at 2.00pm ? ? 3.00pm\n2nd Session (English) at 3.30pm ? ? 4.30pm\nARTIST PROFILE\nChang Yoong Chia (b. 1975\, Malaysia) is fast becoming one of the most recognisable emerging artists in Malaysia.
