OBJECTIVE\nTo provide an opportunity for Japanese language learners\, especially from the Northern Region of Malaysia to improve their Japanese language proficiency and to enhance their understanding of Japanese culture. In addition\, it also serves as a platform for Japanese language enthusiasts to meet\, interact and make the learning of Japanese an enjoyable activity.\n2. ELIGIBILITY (In Pairs ONLY)\ni. Malaysian citizens or international students recognized by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education\naged 16 years old and above.\nii. Have NOT stayed in Japan for 5 months or more.\niii. Have NOT been formally enrolled in any schools / universities in Japan.\niv. Non-native Japanese speakers whose parents (father or mother) are not Japanese.\n(Those who have won a study tour award to Japan\, sponsored by the Japan Foundation are not eligible to apply.)\n3. APPLICATION & PROCEDURE\ni. Submit hard OR soft copies of your Entry Form\, and poem manuscript in Japanese characters (typed on A4 size papers). Please add ?FURIGANA? to all KANJI CHARACTERS.\nii. The manuscript can be on any Japanese poetic genre and must not exceed 6 minutes in presentation.\niii. The manuscript can be an original or modified or summarized writing which has NOT been presented in any other contest or event. Please write the title of the poem in both Japanese and English\, and the name(s) of the original poet(s) in the column provided in the Entry Form.\niv. The School of Languages\, Literacies and Translation reserves the rights for all entries received.\nv. There will be a very brief ?Question and Answer? session after each contestant has presented his / her speech.\nvi. All qualified applicants will be notified by 20th October 2018 (Saturday).\nvii.
