DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css=".vc_custom_1655346969896{margin-bottom: 50px !important;}"][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_column_text]Kites were first invented about 2000 years ago in China. They appeared in Japan during the Heian period\, when they were known as ‘paper hawks’\, the same name they were known in China.\nToday there are probably more types of kites in Japan than in anywhere else. They are flown at present mostly during festivals\, since it is said to be an auspicious omen if one’s kite flies high. One example takes place during the Boys Festival.\nTops were introduced into Japan from China and Korea about 1\,200 years ago. Like many imports it was first enjoyed by aristocrats\, spreading to common people later. At present there are about 1000 kinds of tops in Japan.
