DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css=".vc_custom_1655870898152{margin-bottom: 50px !important;}"][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_column_text]Following up on last year?s series of design workshops\, The Malaysian Alliance of Technical Theatre (MATT) and The Japan Foundation\, Kuala Lumpur (JFKL)\, supported by The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC) are proud to bring back the Japan-Malaysia Technical Design Workshop 2005. This year?s focus will be on Sound Design (conducted by Ms. Kyoko YAMADA) and Set Design & Construction (conducted by Mr. Mitsu HISASHI).\nDate : 15 ? 19 March 2005 (Tue-Sat)\nVenue : Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC)\nExperimental Theatre\nTime : 2pm ? 6pm (Tue-Fri)\n10am ? 6pm (Sat)\nFees : RM 100 per participant\nApplication closing date: 4 March 2005 (Fri)\nvisit www.matt.com.my for online registration\nNote: Due to a limited capacity of 10 participants per workshop MATT\nwill have to screen all candidates before they are invited to participate.\nFor further queries\, please contact Alvin Tan (012 391 7060) / Teoh Ming Jin (012 207 8089) or email to contact@matt.com.my\nSET DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION WORKSHOP\nConducted by: Mr. Mitsu HISASHI\nParticipants Criteria\nParticipants should have basic carpentry experience and be able to read construction drawings. Basic theatre production experience is preferable.\nAll approved participants will be required to attend a pre-workshop briefing on Monday\, 7th March 2005 @ 6pm at The Actors Studio @ Bangsar Shopping Centre. You are encouraged to bring your own laptop with audio software.\nWorkshop Description\nThis workshop is aimed at participants who have basic or advance training or experience in Set Construction and would like to progress into the field of Theatre Set Design and Construction.\nParticipants will be introduced to:\n? Set design skills for performing arts productions.\n? Emphasis on design and methods of construction for touring sets.\n? Methods and materials used to create effects only in a theatre setting.\nParticipants in the workshop will be required to produce a basic set design (based on the pre-workshop briefing) and the workshop will construct on your piece of work.\nMitsu HISHASHI\n\nMitsu HISASHI has over 27 years of experience as a professional Stage Director (Stage Manager) in Japan. He has worked on all productions with Gekidan Kaitaishi as a Stage Manager and Stage Director for Pappa Tarahumara\, Wakuri Yukio Kouzensha\, Toyota Contemporary Dance Award. Recently he worked as a Stage Director for productions such as ?Tentekomai? (Yamada Un)\, ?Gekijou Yu-en? (Itoh Kim Kagayaku Mirai).\nSOUND DESIGN WORKSHOP\nConducted by: Ms. Kyoko YAMADA\nParticipants Criteria\nParticipants should at least have 2 years experience in the field of Sound Engineering. You must already have a good knowledge of signal flow\, audio equipment and its uses and preferably some experience in Theatre sound.\nAll approved participants will be required to attend a pre-workshop briefing on Monday\, 7th March 2005 @ 6pm at The Actors Studio @ Bangsar Shopping Centre. You are encouraged to bring your own laptop with audio software.\nWorkshop Description\nThis workshop is aimed at participants who have basic training or experience in Sound Engineering and would like to progress into the field of Theatre Sound Design.\nParticipants will be introduced to:\n\nWhat is theatre sound and how its objectives differ from other audio disciplines.\nTools and methods used to create soundscapes.\nDelivering theatre sound (i.e. Playback systems\, Speaker placements\, etc)\n\nParticipants in the workshop will be required to produce a basic soundscape (based on the pre-workshop briefing) and the workshop will built on your piece of work.\nKyoko YAMADA\nKyoko YAMADA has over 15 years of experience as a professional Sound Designer in Japan. She has worked on productions such as ?A Chorus Line?\, ?West Side Story? and ?Cats? with Gekidan Shiki.
