SUMMARY:Gazing at the Contemporary World: Japanese Photography from the 1970s to the Present
DESCRIPTION:[vc_section][vc_row][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_column_text]As part of Japan Foundation visual arts program\, we organized traveling exhibitions of artworks from our own collection to tour countries throughout the world. This traveling exhibition\, “Gazing at the Contemporary World: Japanese Photography from the 1970s to the Present” is an overview of the diverse photographic expression that has emerged in Japan since the 1970s. The exhibition includes 76 photographs by 23 photographers such as Nobuyoshi Araki and Daido Moriyama. This exhibition is composed of two sections. The first\, “A Changing Society\,” focuses on human beings as members of society. The second\, “Changing Landscapes\,” looks at cities\, the suburbs\, and nature.\nPenang\nDuration:   8th November – 14th December 2013\nVenue:        Muzium & Galeri Tuanku Fauziah\, Universiti Sains Malaysia\nSee Kuala Lumpur Opening Ceremony Pictures from our Facebook here![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_single_image source="external_link" onclick="custom_link" img_link_target="_blank" custom_src="https://www.jfkl.org.my/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/opening-photography-298x300-1.jpg" link="https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.646215602078687.1073741847.376694712364112&type=1&l=484a8fc11b"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_column_text] \n(photo by Shi Png Chng)\n \nGazing at the Contemporary World: Japanese Photography from the 1970s to the Present[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_single_image source="external_link" onclick="custom_link" img_link_target="_blank" custom_src="https://www.jfkl.org.my/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/75.SuzukiRisaku.jpg" link="https://www.jfkl.org.my/events/gazing-at-the-contemporary-world-japanese-photography-from-the-1970s-to-the-present/75-suzukirisaku/"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section][vc_section][vc_row][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_column_text]Risaku Suzuki (b.1963)\nSakura N-6\, 2002\n \nSECTION 1 – A Changing Society\n“Why photograph the totally ordinary everyday stuff when nothing’s actually happening out there?
