DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css=".vc_custom_1655873400369{margin-bottom: 50px !important;}"][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_column_text]\nExpanding Sound Design: Japan + Malaysia\nPresentation + Live Performance\nYasuhiro Morinaga\, a sound designer is invited to Malaysia to work with award winning film director Chris Chong Chan Fui’s new film\, “BLOCK B”. Taking this opportunity\, an arrangement had made for Yasuhiro Morinaga and Hardesh Singh from KL to present you “Film X Sound”.\n“Film X Sound” is about seeing the sounds in film. Yasuhiro Morinaga\, a sound designer / artist from Tokyo and Hardesh Singh\, a composer from KL will give insight into film sound design and experimentation when merging sight and sound. After the discussion\, a special live performance by both artists will be held showcasing their own personal aural sensibilities.\nDon’t miss the opportunity to see and experience how sight and sound emerged.\nThis event is proudly brought to you by Tanjung Aru Pictures and supported by The Japan Foundation\, Kuala Lumpur (JFKL).\nDate & Time: 4th April 2008 (Fri)\, 8:00pmVenue: Former Disco @ The Central Market\, The AnnexeAdmission: FREEEnquiry: 03-2260 6202 (Chris)\nYASUHIRO MORINGA\nBorn in Tokyo\, Yasuhiro Morinaga has been working internationally as a sound designer / sound artist. Morinaga’s sound design works for film have been screened at various film festivals\, such as Berlinale\, Pusan\, and TokyoFimex. He has worked on a variety of disciplines including theatre\, contemporary dance and installations. He has also performed at international Art & Music Festivals such as Sonorities Contemporary Music Festival (Ireland) and Sound Image Sound Festivals / Music Beyond Performance (curated by renowned sound designer Robert Coburn).\nSince 2007 he has been undertaking a Phd in New Media at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.\nCurrently\, his works emphasizes field-recordings (Sound of nature and sound-scapes) and multi-media audio & visual installation.\nHARDESH SINGH\nHardesh Singh is better known as the founding member of the 50cents Jazz Club\, and composer for many local films\, including Amir Muhammad’s Lelaki Komunis Terakhir and Yasmin Ahmad’s Gubra. He graduated with a degree in telecommunications engineering but decided he was already so good at maths that he should pursue a more artistic path. This lead him to study with Ustad Ali Akbar Khan in San Francisco\, where he blended in very well with the tech geeks imported from India\, even though he couldn’t read a single line of code thanks to his locally obtained degree.\nUpon returning to Malaysia\, he studied gambus under the late Fadzil Ahmad\, and the malay gamelan at ASWARA (Previously known as ASK) and ventured into film composing. Susuk\, to be released later this year will mark his 10th film score. He currently runs his own audio house\, SoundWorks Productions\, working on ad campaigns and sound design\, as well as producing a number of local talents; and has just founded a new tech-start up that aims to provide free broadband to all Malaysians\, only because he thinks he needs to play his part for Vision 2020.\nTanjung Aru Pictures\nFounded in 2007\, TANJUNG ARU PICTURES was set up for the production of short\, feature length works and documentaries focused on unconventional stories and experimentation. TAP was formed by Sabah\, East Malaysian filmmaker\, Chris Chong Chan Fui\, currently based in Kuala Lumpur\, whose background is rooted in underground cinema for the past 9 years.\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][/vc_row]\n
