The 10th International MANGA Award is now open for entries. Established in 2007, it aims to honour comic artists who contribute to the continued popularity of manga overseas and is considered the world's most prestigious accolade for non-Japanese professionals.
Many Malaysians have found success at the competition; namely two-time Silver Award-winner Ben Wong (for Atan in 2014 andLe. Gardenie in 2007), ZINT (2013 Bronze Award for User, Volume 1), Puyuh and Core (2012 Bronze Award for From the Netherworld: Tales of Terror!), Neko (2011 Bronze Award for Ice Cream Baby), Tan Zien Yun and Sherlock (2011 Bronze Award for X-Venture: Terror Raptor), and Keith Chong (2007 Bronze Award for Wasabi).
1. The best manga among the submitted works will be presented with the Gold Award. Three runners-up will be given the Silver Award. 2. Gold and Silver Award winners will be invited to Japan to attend the award ceremony. During their stay, they will also have the opportunity to engage with manga creators as well as visit manga publishing companies and related places.
The submitted manga must have been produced outside of Japan and created within three years from the date of application (20132016).
Both published and unpublished works are eligible for entry.
