DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css=".vc_custom_1655869599475{margin-bottom: 50px !important;}"][vc_column width="1/6"][/vc_column][vc_column width="2/3"][vc_column_text]The Japan Foundation\, Kuala Lumpur proudly brings you a contemporary dance performance by Dance Company Batik from Japan\, as part of their Russia (Moscow\, Permi) ? Malaysia Tour. In Permi\, they will attend renowned ?Diaghilev Festival?.\nDance Company Batik was founded by Ms. Ikuyo Kuroda in April 2002. This time in Kuala Lumpur\, they will perform their best piece called ?SHOKU? led by 7 dancers. Shoku has performed at Dance Biennale Tokyo 2002\, Korea and Japan Festival. In 2003\, the troupe performed at SPAC (Shizuoka Performing Arts Center) Dance Festival 2003\, and was awarded the Excellent Work Prize. Besides\, they also performed at Toyota Choreography Award 2003\, awarded the grand prize and Ms. Ikuyo Kuroda won as the ?Choreographer of the Next Generation?.\nShoku is defined as touch. It is an attempt to express the inner feeling and the physical touching through subversive dance; the faint and frail feel of inside and outside derived by Shoku (touch). The dancers express their feeling of differentiating between the special of themselves and the world by the use of touching.\nThis performance is supported by Toyota and The Saison Foundation.\nThere will be a Post Performance Talk by Mr. Joseph Victor Gonzales\, Head of Dance Department from ASK (National Arts Academy) and Ms. Ikuyo Kuroda\, the choreographer of the Dance Company BATIK. This Talk will be held on 26 (Thu) May 2005 at 9:30pm right after the ?SHOKU -full version-? performance.\nThis is the golden opportunity for you to any question to one of the leading choreographers in Japan.\nNote: Audiences who attend the performance on 25 (Wed) May\, can come for the Talk. She joined ?Kim Itoh the Glorious Future? in 2000\, and performed both in Japan and abroad.\nShe performed in Rencontres Choreographiques Internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis (former Bagnolet International Choreography Contest) Yokohama Platform\, with her first choreographed work ?Side B\,? and received the National Advisory Panel Award.\nIn April 2002\, she founded her company ?BATIK? and performed at Dance Biennale Tokyo 2002\, Korea and Japan Festival. In 2003\, she performed at SPAC (Shizuoka Performing Arts Centre) Dance Festival 2003\, and was awarded the Excellent Work Prize. She performed her awarded piece at ?Japanese Performing Arts?\, which held in Moscow in May\, 2003. Then\, performed at Toyota Choreography Award 2003\, and was awarded the grand prize.\nBATIK joined SI Dance Festival in Seoul\, Korea\, and Dance Umbrella in London with the work ?SIDE B? in October 2004.
