The event was held at The Japan Club of Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, 20 April 2014. A total of 15 finalists were selected to participate in the contest comprising of finalists from the Secondary Schools Category preliminary rounds for Northern, Southern, East Coastal, Central and Sabah-Sarawak-Labuan zones, and the Private Learners Category.

The Overall Champion and Top winners from each category were awarded with a Study Tour Program to Japan, courtesy of the Japan Foundation and the Education Guardianship Group, Japan. The winners are as follows:

Tokyo Prize: Soong Yee Xuan, Tsun Jin High School Japanese Society (Tsun Jin High School, Kuala Lumpur)
Osaka Prize: Muhamad Anas bin Azraei, SMK Bukit Jambul, Pulau Pinang
Osaka Prize: Muhamad Aiman bin Ahmad Suhaimi, Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah, Putrajaya
Osaka Prize: Muhamad Yakub bin Basri, SM Sains Kepala Batas, Pulau Pinang
Sakura Prize: Yeat Nai Yee, Perak Malaysian-Japanese Friendship Society (SMJK Yuk Choy, Ipoh)
Sakura Prize: Seng Min, SMK (P) Temenggong Ibrahim, Batu Pahat
Special Jury Prize: Kong Bei Ji, SMJK Katholik, Selangor
Special Jury Prize: Salwa Aziera binti Mat Sham, SMK Lembah Bidong, Terengganu

This annual event was co-organized by the Embassy of Japan (EoJ), The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur, The Japanese Chamber of Trade & Industry, Malaysia (JACTIM) and The Japan Club of Kuala Lumpur (JCKL) in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Malaysia.
