SYNOPSIS:
UEMURA Naomi comes to Tokyo to go to University. He joins a mountaineering club, but not having the experiences the others do, he is forced to leave the club. He cannot find a job after graduating from university and becomes a drop-out of Japanese society. He begins to travel foreign countries with little money. He goes to US, then to Chamonix in France where he works and joins an alpine group of a university. He starts climbing several difficult mountains such as Mont Blanc and Matterhorn. In May 1978, he becomes the first Japanese climber, standing on the summit of Mt. Everest to reach the top.
