THEME: 21ST CENTURY SKILLS AND JAPANESE LANGUAGE EDUCATION
SEMINAR: 「グローバル時代の日本語教育」Japanese Language Education in the Global Age
WORKSHOP: 「21世紀のスキル開発を目指す日本語教育の教室活動と評価」 Instruction and Assessment of 21st Century Skills in the Japanese Language Classroom
Many progressive curriculums around the world call for the development of 21st century skills to be incorporated in schools, and Japanese language education is no exception. Such an approach to capacity-building requires a shift from a ‘teacher-centred’ to a ‘student-focused’ environment whereby pupils independently learn by expanding their knowledge, conveying their ideas and relating to the world outside the classroom. Unfortunately however, this change is no easy task.
At this seminar, we shall look at what should be the philosophy, mission and goals of Japanese language education in today’s globalised society.
This will be followed by a workshop on how language activities can adopt a modern outlook and subsequently new methods of aptitude evaluation.
Both the seminar and workshop will be fully conducted in Japanese.
